We have years of experience representing lawyers in disciplinary matters before the New Mexico Disciplinary Board. Lawyers who receive a disciplinary complaint are well advised to engage counsel to represent them immediately upon receiving a disciplinary complaint. An effective initial response can often result in the dismissal of the disciplinary complaint without any further proceedings. Because of our experience and expertise in legal ethics and the disciplinary process, we know how to craft an effective response.
If disciplinary charges are brought, we have expertise and extensive experience in defending lawyers in formal proceedings before the Disciplinary Board. From the initial “trial” before a Hearing Committee through the various levels of appeal, up to and including hearings in the New Mexico Supreme Court, we are skilled at representing New Mexico lawyers in these matters
We also have years of experience counseling and advising lawyers regarding legal ethics and law practice issues. From conflicts of interest to attorney-client privilege to legal fees to terminating a representation, we are available to consult with and guide New Mexico lawyers through ethics issues that they may be facing. We also have extensive experience in advising lawyers and law firms regarding departing lawyers, law firm break ups, fee disputes among lawyers, and other complexities that can arise in a law practice.
If you need consultation or legal representation in any of these areas, we are ready and able to help. It’s what we do.
